“Wassup Gwayy” debuts at No. 1 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50
Famous Sally & YB's first single opened at the top of Billboard's TikTok chart two weeks after release.
“Wassup Gwayy” was released on 7 September 2023 through Against Da Grain with Epic Records behind it. The dance and the catchphrase did the rest: the sound was used close to 2.5 million times on TikTok, and the trend pulled in names as far from Atlanta rap as Drake and Kerry Washington.
Billboard's TikTok Billboard Top 50 ranks the songs driving the most activity on the app in the United States. In the chart week of 21 September 2023 the song debuted straight at No. 1, the duo's first chart entry of any kind.
The follow-through came on 20 February 2024 with “The Truth”, a six-track debut EP that put the party record next to more personal songs. The live clip from The Red Mic District, filmed in July 2023, is the performance most fans found first.
