Famous Sally & YB debut at No. 1 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 with “Wassup Gwayy”
The Atlanta duo's breakout single opened at the top of Billboard's TikTok chart in September 2023.
When Billboard launched its TikTok Billboard Top 50, a chart built on the songs driving the most activity on the app, Famous Sally & YB's “Wassup Gwayy” debuted straight at No. 1 in the week of 21 September 2023. The Against Da Grain duo had never had a charting record before.
The song's momentum came from the dance and the catchphrase. The clip was used close to 2.5 million times on TikTok, and the trend pulled in names far outside Atlanta rap, with Drake and Kerry Washington among the people who joined it.
For a label that signs off social momentum, the chart debut was proof of concept. Famous Sally & YB were signed to Against Da Grain with Epic Records behind them, and their debut EP “The Truth” followed in February 2024.
