2Rare, born Naseem Rafeeq Young in North Philadelphia, built his following the way this era rewards: dance moves as catchy as the hooks. His fans, the Rare Steppas, turned his clips into one of hip-hop's most recognizable TikTok routines, and the songs underneath them — “Q-Pid” with Lil Durk, “Rare's Room” — carried the momentum onto the charts.

His first Billboard Hot 100 entry came via a feature on NLE Choppa's “Do It Again,” a record that went on to RIAA gold certification. Second Estate Records signed him in October 2022, and in July 2023 he was named to XXL's Freshman Class, the magazine's annual list of hip-hop's next wave.
2Rare calls his own lane rare on purpose: “Gotta be rare, you gotta be diverse, you gotta be different.” Since then he has kept a steady single pace — “RATATAAAAA” with French Montana, “C4” with Skilla Baby and Rob49 — while the Rare Steppas keep dancing.
