These are the products that fill the farmers markets through spring and summer, and they are central to the programme’s wider aim — increasing the availability of nutritious, locally grown food in a region dealing with food deserts and diet-related illness.
Producers growing specialty crops can enrol in the same incentive programme as pecan growers, with the same verification and the same January payment cycle.
