Accessibility statement

Our standard

These three sites are built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the standard adopted for state and local government web content under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Every page uses landmarks, a logical heading order, visible focus, keyboard-operable menus, sliders with a pause control, text alternatives on images, labelled forms with clear error messages, sufficient colour contrast, and layouts that reflow at 400 percent zoom and on phones.

How we test

Every template, component and form is checked with automated tools (axe-core) and by hand with a keyboard and a screen reader before it is published, and again whenever content is changed by staff. The staff publishing tools warn when an image is missing a description or a heading level is skipped.

Documents

New agendas, minutes, budgets, plans and forms are published as tagged, accessible PDFs or as web pages. If a document you need is not yet accessible, ask and we will provide it in a format that works for you.

Third-party services

Payments, ticket checkout, the bid portal and maps are provided by outside services that open in a new window. If you have difficulty with one of them, the Village will complete the transaction with you by phone.
