“The Biggest CEO”: Billboard Hip Hop profiles Fly Ty

Billboard Hip Hop's January 2022 profile introduced Fly Ty to readers as an executive with two jobs that feed each other: chief executive of Against Da Grain Entertainment and vice president of A&R at Epic Records.

The piece led with the numbers behind his signings. Jamie Ray, the country-trap artist from Polk County, Florida, had passed 150 million TikTok views and 40 million streams within four months of his first release. Philmon Lee's debut EP had drawn attention from major artists before he had played a proper tour.

It also covered the part of the story Fly Ty tells first. Incarcerated at seventeen, he rebuilt his life around the music business, opened ADG Studios in Atlanta, and now spends part of his time mentoring young entrepreneurs in the communities he came from.
