1SkiMask signs with Epic Records in a deal brokered by Fly Ty

DancehallMag reported on 3 December 2024 that 1SkiMask had signed his first international record deal, joining Epic Records in partnership with Against Da Grain Entertainment. The deal was put together by Tyshawn “Fly Ty” Johnson, the label's founder and a vice president of A&R at Epic.

The report traced his route to the deal. Born Rivaldo Lyle, he attended Vere Technical High School in Clarendon with engineering in mind, then built a following with comedy sketches and acting clips on social media before the music took over.

By the time of the signing he had a catalogue to back it. “Darkniss” had passed three million YouTube views, and 2024 releases including “Pretty Fr”, “Energy”, “Love A Nuh My Thing” and “Life Of A G” were already in circulation.
