Rental shows settle through the authorized provider, which retains box office sales until after the show and until venue and IATSE 118 costs are covered — that is the assignment-of-proceeds process in the Theatre License Agreement, reflected here rather than worked around.
Automatic posting
A payment becomes a journal entry without anyone retyping it.
1
Stripe confirms payment
Webhook received and verified by signature.
2
Order and ticket written
Revenue recognised as deferred — the performance has not happened yet.
3
Event takes place
Deferred revenue releases to earned on the performance date.
4
Settlement run
Fees, IATSE and venue costs posted; net payout scheduled.
5
Exported
Journal pushed to the accounting system, with the order id on every line so any figure
can be traced back to a single ticket.
Ticket income is deferred revenue until the performance. Booking it as earned at purchase overstates income and misstates any refund that follows.
