Welcome & Call to Order – John Mihaly, Treasurer The Senior Services’ 2024 Annual Meeting was called to order by John Mihaly, the Treasurer of the Board of Directors. A motion was made by Dick Grice, seconded by Caryn West, and approved unanimously. John Mihaly welcomed all attendees to the Annual Meeting Luncheon and highlighted the importance of the event in recognizing the many partners who empower the organization to impact lives and improve the Hampton Roads community. John also took a moment to thank Townebank for sponsoring the event. Following this, John introduced Virginia Beach Mayor Bobby Dyer, who thanked everyone for attending the meeting and expressed gratitude for the organization's continued commitment to supporting the older adult population. Following the Mayor’s remarks, Steve Zollos was welcomed to the podium. Steve greeted the attendees and began to acknowledge the following representatives who were in attendance: Diane Kaufman (Regional Director for US Senator Tim Kaine), Brenda Roberts (District Director for US Rep Jen Kiggans), and Efrem Anderson (Constituent Services Representative for US Rep Bobby Scott). The past board presidents recognized were Cathy Dalton, Herb DeGroft, and John Skirven (Past CEO). He then invited the current Board of Directors to stand and thanked them for their leadership, strategic guidance, and commitment to the organization’s growth. Steve also recognized the members of the Service Advisory Council, who play a crucial role in providing valuable community insights that influence the organization’s planning efforts. Annual Report Presentation - Steve Zollos, CEO and Charnitta Waters, COO Next, Steve presented the organization’s impact and effectiveness in 2024 and the organization's mission/vision. Steve took a moment to recognize the Senior Services team for their dedication and hard work in serving the community. Afterward, Steve welcomed Charnitta Waters to the podium, where she shared insights into the company’s impact on the Hampton Roads area. Charnitta thanked each partner who contributed to the successful rollout of all services and proudly expressed that the organization's success would not be possible without their continued support and collaboration. Special Presentation - Steve Zollos, CEO After Charnitta's presentation, Steve concluded the presentation expressing gratitude for the team's hard work and the partners’ continued support. After lunch, Steve presented gifts to Brad, Brigid, and Herb in recognition of their years of service and dedication to the organization. He also took a moment to honor Brad and Brigid as they embark on their well-deserved retirement journeys, wishing them the best in their future. John Mihaly expressed personal gratitude to Brigid, Brad, and Herb for their unwavering service to Senior Services. Before adjournment, John presented a short video of the upcoming 2nd Annual Gala informed attendees that Gala invitations were included in their folders and that QR codes were available at their tables for more details. John encouraged everyone to attend and enjoy what promises to be a memorable night. John then thanked everyone for attending the meeting and reflecting on the remarkable year the organization has had. He encouraged continued support and looked forward to meeting again in 2026.
