Counted from their own sitemap

The published page sitemap lists 97 URLs, but only 96 of them are distinct — the homepage is listed twice. With 628 articles from the WordPress API, the real figure is 724 unique items, not the 725 the sitemap advertises. Everything below is counted from what the site actually returns.

Taxonomy: 25 categories become 6

michigansbdc.org runs 25 categories. 10 of them contain no posts at all, two pairs say the same thing twice, and 203 articles — nearly a third of everything published — carry "Uncategorized". Three of those also carry a real category and were filed under it. The remaining 200 all sit under /uncategorized/ and belong to the weekly Small Business, Big Threat run; 199 of them match a cybersecurity keyword outright, so all 200 are filed under Cybersecurity here.

Duplicate pairs collapsed: startups (102) + starting-a-business (6); growing-companies (79) + growing-a-business (5). Empty categories deleted: best-practices, client-spotlight, community-news, covid19-blog, homepage, no-category, nw, phishing, software-updates, timeline.

Pages deliberately not carried over

All of these are live and indexed on michigansbdc.org today. Each one redirects to the nearest real page rather than disappearing.

Editor residue removed

257 of the 628 articles carry Visual Composer shortcode markup in their stored content — [vc_row], [vc_column_text], [wvc_post_index] and so on. That markup is tied to one page-builder plugin and one theme. Every article here was stripped back to real headings, paragraphs, lists, quotes and images, so the content outlives whichever editor comes next.

Broken image sources found

These <img> sources are published in live posts and pages and return 404 from michigansbdc.org right now. Fourteen are macOS screenshot filenames truncated at the first full stop; the last two hotlink other people's servers, one of them a placeholder image service.

The events calendar renders nothing

Open /get-started/training-events/view/ today and the page between the header and the footer is empty: the whole calendar is inside a Blackthorn iframe. Nothing in it can be searched, indexed, linked to, or filtered by region, and a visitor with a blocked third-party frame sees no events at all. The 10 sessions currently published there are held on this site instead, each with its own page and its own registration, and the calendar filters by region, format and month.

Learning brought back on-site

The published sitemap still lists /get-started/training-events/webinars/, which now sends visitors to lms.michigansbdc.org — a second domain, a second brand, and an account you must create before you can read anything, including the free material. The eight courses are rebuilt here on the main site, no account needed, with progress kept on the visitor's own device. The LMS "Webinar Recordings" page currently lists nothing at all behind that login.

What this site does that the current one cannot

• One search box over everything — 735 pages, articles, courses and sessions, ranked, with the type as a filter. michigansbdc.org has no site search.
• A calendar you can filter by region, format and month, with every session on its own page and registration taken here.
• Booking that files a request — ten working days of slots, validated again on the server, stored with the request and shown to staff in the console.
• Four languages in the chrome, with Arabic served right-to-left, the choice remembered, and Get Help routed to the Michigan SBDC's own translated page for that language.
• Integrations that report the truth — every request is queued once per integration, signed with HMAC-SHA256 and retried with backoff; the console shows sent, queued, failed or not configured, never a green tick that was never earned.
• 19 links to the events platform inside old articles now resolve on this site instead of landing on expired registration pages.
