Public safety
Police Department
Chief Michael Dorsey leads the Bruceville-Eddy Police Department, responsible for protecting life and property, preserving peace and order, and enforcing federal, state, and local law within the City’s jurisdiction. The department is also responsible for code enforcement and animal services (below).

Volunteer Fire Department
Led by Fire Chief Ron Engelke. The BEVFD posts updates and details on its Facebook page and accepts donations directly.

Code Enforcement

Water, sewer, and solid waste
Water Department
Office (254) 859-5700 · Fax (254) 859-5779 · water@bruceville-eddy.us. Hours Mon–Fri 8–5 (closed 12–1). Payments due by the 15th of each month; a $30 late fee applies after the due date, with cutoff on the 20th. After-hours water emergencies: (254) 640-0721.
Residential Trash Collection
Collected Tuesdays by Waste Connections. Set containers out by 7 AM (as early as 6 PM the day before), lid closed, at least three feet from obstacles. Overloaded containers will not be collected.
Recycling & Brush/Bulky
No curbside recycling program currently; cardboard can be dropped off behind the Police Department (143 Wilcox Drive). Brush and bulky pick-up runs weekly on Wednesday afternoons after a request is submitted.
Solid waste rates (Waste Connections, effective August 2023)
Residential: $18.96 (1 cart) · $28.32 (2 carts) · $37.66 (3 carts). Commercial: $22.82 (1 cart) · $30.00 (2 carts) · $41.52 (3 carts). Dumpsters require a direct contract with Waste Connections.
Building Inspections & Permitting
Bureau Veritas serves as the City’s contracted Building Inspector. Bed & breakfast and short-term rental facilities must be licensed. Contact (254) 859-5700 or rflores@bruceville-eddy.us.

Animal Services
Provided by the Police Department on a limited basis: microchipping by appointment, enforcement of animal ordinances, and collection of deceased animals from public streets. (254) 859-5072.

Finance & Administration
Finance Director Esther Moreno’s department manages capital-project budgeting, disbursements, and monthly reporting. The City’s fiscal year runs October 1 through September 30; the operating budget is prepared each spring, with public hearings on the tax rate and budget generally held July through September.
Annual financial reports and audits (2009–2025), Hotel Occupancy Tax reporting, and adopted budgets back to 2021–2022 are published on the City’s Finance and Budget pages.
