The Role of Mobile Healthcare in Health Center Operations
About this resource
Mobile healthcare, also referred to as mobile health, mobile clinics, and mobile health units (MHUs), is an alternative, flexible, and cost-effective approach to bringing a wide range of healthcare services—such as medical, dental, behavioral, vision, and even mammography—directly to underserved and hard-to-reach patients. This report, developed with support from HRSA, reviews the basics of mobile healthcare and provides tools and guidance on where to begin in designing a mobile health unit. (Released 2025).
