How Kuna ELC Is Building Kindergarten Readiness Through READY!
In Kuna, educators and families are connecting what happens in preschool with the learning that happens at home.
Kuna joined Idaho AEYC’s network of Early Learning Collaboratives in 2022, building on local efforts to prepare young children for kindergarten. The partnership brought funding, resources, and connections to work the community had already begun.
My Place Preschool is part of that local response. Its program serves children ages three to five, follows the school district’s calendar, and prioritizes bilingual teachers to help welcome Spanish-speaking families.
READY! for Kindergarten connects classroom learning with everyday life. At My Place Preschool, enrolled families participate in workshops led on-site by their children’s teachers. Parents receive practical tools to continue early math, reading, and language learning through play at home.
The collaborative also offers READY! Provider Training, helping early childhood professionals bring the program to the families they serve. Idaho AEYC’s wider network gives local leaders a place to exchange ideas and learn from other communities.
